GuideStar Attends ASA 2024 Annual Meeting | October 25, 2024
GuideStar Medical Devices (GuideStar) team members Michael Dolphin, Ryan Ruedebusch, Madison Miller and Jocelyn Mackey attended the ASA 2024 Annual Meeting in Philadelphia from October 19-21. This conference hosts over 15,000 attendees, approximately 73% of which are physician anesthesiologists. GuideStar received significant interest in EpiZact during the conference, with many attendees requesting to evaluate EpiZact at their facility. Clinicians exhibited particular excitement regarding both the potential improvements to patient satisfaction and cost savings presented by EpiZact.
CEO Mike Dolphin commented on the success experienced at the conference: “ASA 2024 was a great event for us. We’re always excited to introduce anesthesiologists to EpiZact, and for them to actually try it with their own hands in our booth. Contacts made at this year’s conference will keep us busy visiting hospitals during 2025!”
Clinicians outside the US, including anesthesiologists in Canada, Australia, France, Germany, Japan, Qatar and Saudi Arabia inquired about the timeline to clearance in their region. This interest demonstrates the excitement surrounding the patient safety initiative presented by EpiZact. GuideStar looks forward to pursuing CE marking for EpiZact to enter the European market, and planning towards international distribution in other jurisdictions.

About EpiZact
Epidurals are performed to provide anesthesia to a patient, by means of injection of medication into the epidural space. Traditionally, epidurals are performed using the “loss of resistance” technique. EpiZact is the first device developed for epidurals that is designed to stop the forward motion of the needle upon sensing a loss of resistance, providing a tactile and visual signal to the user while simultaneously stopping the needle from further advancement, potentially reducing the incidence of accidental dural puncture.
